I firmly believe in body autonomy and the freedom to choose whether or not to take a vaccine. This is a personal choice that each individual should have the right to make. From a health perspective, there should be philosophical, religious, and personal medical exemptions available for all medical procedures. However, in Vermont, the legislature is attempting to remove these exemptions, infringing on our personal freedoms.
We, the people of the United States, were misled by companies prioritizing profit over people. They crafted a false narrative that painted those who chose not to get vaccinated as selfish and a danger to others. This narrative was a lie. Many who opted out of vaccination were justifiably cautious about being exposed to a potentially dangerous and experimental drug. Were they wrong to check the label for possible detrimental side effects? I don't think so.
With numerous individuals experiencing severe side effects or even death following vaccination, particularly among healthy young people who didn't need the vaccines, how does the government reconcile this? They don't, and they won't apologize. However, more people are starting to see through these false narratives.
It's crucial that individuals have the right to be informed and to consent to whatever they put into their bodies. Our freedoms must be protected.
One of my favorite non-Biblical prophets, Bob Dylan, asks, "When you gonna wake up and strengthen the things that remain?" This question resonates deeply with my campaign.
When are we going to wake up and take action?
My goal is not to denigrate Senator Bernie Sanders or anyone else. While I have clear differences with him, my aim is to present myself as a sound, thoughtful, and articulate alternative. I strive to do this to the best of my ability as a non-politician. I don't want to be seen as mean or nasty.
I aim to do my best with the help of others, despite the negativity that may come my way for speaking the truth. I believe that when a person finds their calling and knows in their heart what is right, they are better equipped to handle both praise and criticism with grace. As Rudyard Kipling advised, we must treat these two imposters—praise and blame—the same.
The Powers That Be may try to censure me for my stance on freedom, but they will also do so when I seek to be a unifier. If I remain true to the Vermont way, I will be able to navigate the challenges that come my way.
One of my biggest concerns is how to staff this campaign and ensure that we can pay good people for the important work they are doing.
Thank you for your support.
